  • The company founder, Raymond Dewalt, invented the radial arm saw in 1922. He called it "The Wonder Worker."
  • The Dewalt Products Company was founded in 1924.
  • Dewalt's first machines were green, not the yellow we see today.
  • Dewalt was sold to AMF (American Machine and Foundry Company) in 1947.
  • AMF sold the company to Black and Decker in 1960. They still own it.
  • The company came out with the first direct-drive table saw in 1964. It used the same motor as their radial arm saws.

The DW745 compact job site table saw is a scaled down version of Dewalt's popular DW744 job site saw. Geared toward trim carpenters and other professional contractors, it's light weight allows easy transport up stairs and around obstacles normally encountered at work sites.
